GDF Suez has inaugurated a 435 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant at Montoir de Bretagne in the Loire Atlantique region of western France.
The new combined-cycle facility features a GE 109FB combined-cycle system including a Frame 9FB gas turbine, a high efficiency advanced technology (HEAT) steam turbine and associated generators.
“This is a milestone project for us. Our 9FB technology has been well-proven in applications across Europe, and with the GDF Suez project we now are bringing this advanced technology to France,” said Ricardo Cordoba, president of GE Energy Western Europe and North Africa.
The 9FB for the GDF Suez project was manufactured at GE’s European gas turbine headquarters in Belfort, France and shipped to Montoir de Bretagne in early 2009. In combined-cycle operation, the 9FB delivers an energy efficiency of greater than 58 per cent.
Addressing the growing need for cleaner power, the 9FB is equipped with GE’s advanced, Dry Low NOx combustion system, which limits NOx emissions to 25 parts per million or less.
