Emerson South Korea

Emerson Process Management has received a contract from Babcock-Hitachi K.K. to install its PlantWeb digital plant architecture with the Ovation control system at units 9 and 10 of the Dangjin Thermal Power Plant in South Korea. The 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical units are expected to be commissioned by 2016. Korea East West Power Co. owns the units.

The contract includes 71 redundant Ovation controllers, 51 operator workstations and 26 additional workstations for historical data collection, alarm management, thermal stress monitoring, engineering and diagnostic functions. The Ovation systems are designed to monitor and control the Babcock-Hitachi boiler at each unit, as well as manage the ash handling, flue gas desulphurization system, electrostatic precipitator and other plant systems.

Each unit will also include Ovation's embedded steam temperature optimization and unit response optimization technology as well as a training simulation technology.
