Alstom to build gas fired power plant in Russia

Alstom has signed a contract with the Russian company RESAD to supply one GT13E2 gas turbine to the Molzhaninovka power plant in Russia.
The contract signifies the first entry of Alstom’s GT13E2 turbine, the most efficient turbine of its class, into the Russian gas market.
Russia, the world’s biggest country, has the largest natural gas reserves in the world and is the world’s greatest exporter of natural gas. Gas is Russia’s main domestic fuel, accounting for over half of the country’s primary energy demand.
Alstom’s contract with RESAD covers the delivery of the gas turbine for the first phase of construction of the Molzhaninovka gas fired combined-cycle power plant near Moscow, scheduled to be fully operational by December 2012.
