Uruguay explores wind link-up with India

Uruguay is considering working with Indian companies  in developing its wind power sector as demand continues to rise, according to a report in Wind Power monthly.

A delegation led by vice president Danilo Astory recently visited a wind turbines factory in Chennai, in the south of India.

The facility belongs to the independent wind power developer RRB Energy Limited.
The South American country was in need of technical help from third parties as the demand for wind energy rises in Uruguay, Astori said.
Last month, Uruguay confirmed plans to build 500 MW of wind power by 2015, although some have called for an ambitious 300 MW to be installed by the end of the year.
