Chile seeks to redefine its energy policy

Chile’s minister of Energy and Mining, Laurence Golborne, told the local press that it is his priority to define a new energy policy for this natural resources rich country.

"Today the priority of our ministry will be to promote the development and implementation of an integral energy policy, which is backed by technical studies and based on consensus," Golborne said.

The government official said the new policy would be inclusive, taking into consideration concerns on environmental issues, as well as the views of companies involved in developing new projects.
