FirstEnergy to buy wind power in Ohio

FirstEnergy Corp. has signed an agreement with Iberdrola Renewables to purchase electricity produced by the 304 MW Blue Creek wind farm being built in Ohio.

Under terms of an agreement the companies recently reached, FirstEnergy Solutions, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., will purchase 100 MW of the total output of the project for 20 years beginning in October 2012.

The power project, which is being built by Iberdrola Renewables, includes 152 turbines each with a capacity of 2MW.

Construction for Blue Creek Wind Farm began in September and is expected to be completed within the year.
