Kuwait to loan $53m towards 225 MW CCGT in Bangladesh

Bangladesh will receive $53m from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to support the construction of a 225 MW gas fired power plant.

Bangladesh's Economic Relations Division (ERD) secretary Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and Hesham Al-Waqayan, deputy director general of Kuwait Fund, signed the loan agreement on behalf their respective sides for funding the Shikalbaha 225 MW dual fuel combined-cycle power plant.

The main objective of the Shikalbaha power plant project is to meet the growing power demand of greater Chittagong region and to enhance the stability of the national grid.
