DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG has opened an office in Rio de Janeiro with Christoph Schlichter as general manager.
Schlichter is responsible for evaluating market opportunities in the Brazilian upstream industry. “DEA’s aim is to establish itself as an operator in Brazil,” Schlichter said.
DEA plans to take part in future bidding rounds and conduct studies to analyze farm-in opportunities within existing licenses. “We’re interested in a long-term commitment in the region and are prepared to make relevant investments,” said Thomas Rappuhn, DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG chief executive officer.
Schlichter joined DEA in 2001. Most recently, he was general manager for DEA in Libya and Algeria.
