Company reviving old fields gets new name

Hunter Oil Corp. is the new name of Enhanced Oil Resources Inc., Houston, which focuses on improving recoveries at two old oil fields in New Mexico by drilling horizontal wells that can be used for later enhanced recovery.

At Milnesand San Andres field in Roosevelt County, the company has upgraded surface facilities, reactivated several wells, converted several wells to water injection, and completed a pilot carbon-dioxide flood.

A 1959 discovery, the field produces about 60 bo/d from fractured, low-porosity dolomites at about 4,700 ft.

The company’s other field, Chaveroo San Andres, is 8 miles northwest of Milnesand in Chaves and Roosevelt counties. Discovered in 1960, Chaveroo produces about 40 bo/d from fractured dolomite at 4,500 ft.

At Chaveroo, the company has upgraded surface facilities, reactivated several wells, and plugged and abandoned numerous wells.
