Thain to lead Oil & Gas UK Efficiency Taskforce

Walter Thain, managing director of Petrofac Ltd.’s engineering and production services (EPS) West business, has been tabbed as chairman of the Oil & Gas UK’s Efficiency Taskforce (ETF), an industry initiative launched last year “to tackle the fundamental behaviors that drive cost escalation in the UKCS.”

He succeeds Amec Foster Wheeler PLC’s John Pearson, who stepped down from the role after being named his firm’s group president, Americas in May.

Walter has 25 years of industry experience, including 15 at Petrofac, where he currently provides life-of-asset services from conception to decommissioning. Prior to joining Petrofac he held senior engineering and leadership positions with McDermott International Inc.
