Statoil hires Wood Group to study Snorre expansion subsea field concept

Statoil AS has let four subsea contracts on the Norwegian continental shelf to Wood Group, including a contract for Wood Group to study subsea field concept engineering for the Snorre expansion project, which focuses on cost-efficient enhanced recovery from the Snorre reservoir.

The field concept involves tieback from the Snorre reservoir to the Snorre A tension-leg platform and gas import from Gullfaks A. The contract includes options for front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, and fabrication.

In 2013, Statoil recommended the construction of a drilling and processing platform for extracting the remaining reserves from Snorre field in the North Sea. Together with Petoro and the other license partners, Statoil has worked to extend Snorre field life to 2040 (OGJ Online, Oct. 28, 2013).

On the Oseberg field development, Wood Group Kenny was let a detailed design contract for two pipelines with corresponding spools and an umbilical, which will form part of the tieback from the future unmanned wellhead platform to the Oseberg field center.

Wood Group Kenny also provided FEED support on Utgard field development to support engineering on the pipeline system that will tieback the planned subsea template to the Sleipner T platform and performed lifetime extension studies to the pipeline system in Gullfaks field.

Wood Group is an international energy services company. Wood Group Kenny provides technology for oil and gas global project delivery, engineering, and consulting services.
