Construction begins on Johan Sverdrup living quarters platform

Statoil ASA said construction has begun on the living quarters platform for the Johan Sverdrup development project (OGJ Online, Mar. 1, 2016).

The platform is under construction on the island of Stord, north of Stavanger, and is expected to be completed in first-quarter 2019.

The living quarters platform will have a capacity for 560 people. It also will accommodate the field’s control and emergency center, and some utility systems.

Statoil awarded a joint venture of Kvaerner ASA and KBR Inc. the contract for engineering and construction for the platform in June 2015 (OGJ Online, June 8, 2015).
