BPTT weighs development plan for Angelin gas field off Trinidad and Tobago

BP Trinidad & Tobago (BPTT) reported that it will make an investment decision in this year’s fourth quarter on whether to develop its Angelin gas field 40 km offshore Trinidad and Tobago’s east coast (OGJ Online, Mar. 13, 2014).

BPTT said it is now going through its approval process and a decision is expected before yearend.

BPTT told OGJ that it is aiming for mid-2019 to start production.

Angelin was originally discovered by the El Diablo well in 1995 and appraised by La Novia in 2006. The project was accelerated due to enhanced imaging brought by its ocean bottom cable (OBC) seismic.

The company said OBC data has allowed it to better understand the structures in its acreage and has improved the definition of the reservoirs and hydrocarbon contacts that were previously impacted by shallow gas effects in the field.

Angelin lies in 65 m of water and is planned to be tied back to the Serrette platform.

In an application for a certificate of environmental clearance, BPTT said the project would involve the installation of a platform and the drilling of four development wells.

The project also will require the installation of a 25-km, 26-in. subsea pipeline to an existing subsea at BPTT’s Serrette facility.
