Chet M. Thompson, a partner in Crowell & Moring LLP’s Washington office, will become the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers’ next president effective May 4, the association reported. Thompson succeeds Charles T. Drevna, who is retiring after 8 years.
“The refining and petrochemical industries are important contributors to the nation’s economic outlook,” said Tesoro Corp. Chief Executive Gregory J. Goff, who recently became AFPM’s Chairman (OGJ Online, Mar. 26, 2015). “While we face extraordinary regulatory challenges, Chet Thompson brings more than 20 years of experience in the energy and environment sector to his new role as president.”
Thompson has represented AFPM as external counsel for 9 years at Crowell and Moring, where he is chairman of the Environment & Natural Resources Group, one of the country’s top environmental practices, the association said.
Before joining Crowell and Moring in 2006, Thompson was the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Deputy General Counsel for 2 years, and spent 10 years at Collier Shannon Scott PLLC, where his work focused on the Clean Air Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
