Total CEO Pouyanne elected chairman

Patrick Pouyanne, chief executive officer of Total SA, has been elected to the additional position of chairman. He succeeds Thierry Desmarest, whose term expires under corporate age limits and who will remain a director until next May.

Poyuanne became CEO in October 2014 after the death in a Moscow aircraft accident of Christophe de Margerie, who was then also chairman (OGJ Online, Oct. 22, 2014). Desmarest, who had been CEO until 2007, succeeded de Margerie as chairman.
