Cairn-led group drills SNE-2 appraisal well offshore Senegal

The Cairn Energy PLC-led group drilling offshore Senegal that includes FAR Ltd., Perth, and ConocoPhillips has confirmed the SNE-1 oil discovery made last year (OGJ Online, Nov. 19, 2014).

The SNE-2 appraisal well was spudded on the Sangomar Deep block at the start of November and reached its planned total depth of 2,825 m on Dec. 3.

Subsequent coring and wireline logging operations have been completed and preliminary data has confirmed the SNE discovery. The group is now making preparations to run drill stem tests in the well. The work is ahead of schedule.

Project partners are Cairn 40%, ConocoPhillips 35%, FAR 15%, and Senegal state oil concern Petrosen 10%.
