BLM seeks comments on Nevada land for possible oil, gas leasing

The US Bureau of Land Management’s Battle Mountain District office in Nevada is asking for public comments on 67 parcels of public land, totaling 116,990 acres, which have been nominated for potential oil and gas leasing. The tracts are in Big Smokey and Railroad Valleys in Lander and Nye County, BLM said Nov. 16 in a scoping document.

Comments will be accepted through Nov. 30. The district office said that an environmental assessment is being prepared, which it expects to make available in February 2016, for a lease sale which would be held the following June.
