Rosneft, ExxonMobil file joint bids for Mozambique offshore contracts

OAO Rosneft and ExxonMobil Corp. filed joint bids to participate in the fifth licensing round organized by Mozambique’s Institute of National Petroleum.

Rosneft said the offshore contract areas are in the Angoche basin (A5-A and A5-B) and Zambezi Delta (Z5-C and Z5-D). If successful, ExxonMobil will become the operator.

The institute said 15 blocks covering 76,800 sq km offshore and onshore are included in the licensing round, scheduled to close July 30 (OGJ Online, June 5, 2014).
