Buru awarded onshore Canning licenses

Buru Energy Ltd., Perth, and Mitsubish Corp. have been granted two production licenses for Ungani oil field in the onshore Canning basin of Western Australia.

This follows the execution of native title agreements with the Nyikina Mangala, Karajarri Yanja, and the Yawuru people.

The awards are the first new production licenses in the region in decades.

Ungani field upgrades required for the start of commercial oil production are nearing completion and final approvals are expected in days.

Bringing Ungani on stream will be the first new field start-up for 30 years since Home Energy began development of the Blina field in 1981.
