BPTT relocates Juniper project fabrication work to Texas

BP Trinidad & Tobago LLC (BPTT) reported that it has agreed to relocate fabrication of its Juniper platform’s jacket and piles from Trinidad Offshore Fabricators Co.’s (Tofco) yard in La Brea to a fabrication yard in Texas in an effort to keep its Juniper project on schedule.

BPTT said it accepted a proposal from Tofco to move the jacket and pile work to Texas but allow Tofco to fabricate the topsides in Trinidad and Tobago, with an estimated date of completion of fourth-quarter 2016

In September 2014, BPTT let a contract to Technip SA for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the jacket and topsides (OGJ Online, Sept. 9, 2014). The contract also included the offshore installation of subsea equipment for the Juniper project.

The Juniper facility will be a normally unmanned installation and will produce gas from Corallita and Lantana fields, 50 miles offshore southeastern Trinidad and Tobago in 360 ft of water. Juniper will become BPTT’s 14th offshore production facility. Drilling started in 2015; first gas production is expected in 2017. The development will include five subsea wells and will have a production capacity of 590 MMscfd. Gas from Juniper will flow to the Mahogany B hub via a new 10-km flow line.

BPTT operates in 904,000 acres offshore eastern Trinidad and Tobago. BPTT has 13 offshore platforms and two onshore processing facilities. Trinidad and Tobago accounts for just shy of 20% of BP’s global gas production.
