ONGC claims drilling water-depth record

Oil & Natural Gas Corp. has claimed a water-depth record for a well spudded in June on Block KG-DWN-2005/1 offshore eastern India.

The Transocean Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 drillship spudded the ONGC 1-D-1 in 10,411 ft of water on June 18.

With the same drillship, ONGC set the previous record earlier this year at the ONGC NA7-1 exploratory well on Block KG-DWN-2004/1 in 10,385 ft of water (OGJ Online, Feb. 20, 2013).
