CC Energy group to test two of four oil zones in northern Oman

CC Energy Development SAL has begun a test program at the B4EW4 exploratory well on Block 4 onshore northern Oman after it encountered oil in four formations.

Drilled to a total depth of 3,030 m on a dense 2D seismic grid 20 km west of Saiwan East oil field, the well recorded strong oil shows in the Cambrian Lower Al Bashair and Neoproterozoic Buah, Khufai, and Masirah Bay formations.

PVT oil samples were acquired during wireline logging in the Lower Al Bashir, Buah, and Masirah Bay formations. The test program is designed to evaluate the Khufai and Buah reservoirs, said Tethys Oil AB, which has a 30% interest in blocks 3 and 4.

CC Energy Development is operator with 50% interest, and Mitsui E&P Middle East BV has 20%.
