Aramco starts drilling with new jack up

By OGJ editors

Saudi Aramco planned to begin drilling in the Persian Gulf this month with a jack up drilling rig purpose-built at the Kepper FELS shipyard in Singapore.

It is Saudi Aramco’s second fully owned and operated jack up.

With a 54-motor jacking system and legs more than 400 ft long, the rig can drill to as deep as 30,000 ft.

It has six generators able to power all facilities and a back-up. It also has a water cooling system.
