Jiutai to use KBR olefins recovery process

Jiutai Energy Group, Beijing, has let a license and process design package contract to KBR for recovery of olefins from methanol produced from coal at its plant at Ordos, Inner Mongolia.

Jiutai will use KBR technology to produce 600,000 tonnes/year of polymer grade ethylene and propylene from reactor effluent after conversion of 1.8 million tpy of methanol.

Jiutai produces mainly methanol and dimethyl ether at five plants in China.
