Technip gets Kazakh refinery contracts

Technip has received contracts for front-end engineering design of modernization projects that will expand crude capacities of two small refineries in Kazakhstan.

Capacities will grow to 7.5 million tonnes/year (tpy) from 6 million tpy at the JSC Pavlodar Oil Chemistry refinery and to 6 million tpy from 5 million tpy at the Petrokazakhstan Oil Product Shymkent refinery.

At Pavlodar, work includes new isomerization, oligomerization, reforming, and diesel hydrodesulfurization with dewaxing units; revamping of fluid catalytic cracking, vaccuum, and coker units; and various work on FCC gasoline hydrotreating, other sulfur-related units, and utilities and offsites.

At Shymkent, the work covers new residual FCCU, methyl tertiary butyl ether, and various sulfur units and utilities and offsites.
