Ichthys LNG venture awards offshore contract

The Ichthys LNG joint venture has awarded a $250 million (Aus.) offshore integrated project management support services contract to a JV of Clough and French firm Doris Engineering.

The contract is subject to Inpex Australia and Total SA reaching final investment decision on the project.

It will include detailed engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, at-shore commissioning, towing to site, and offshore hook-up of the project’s central processing facility and the floating, storage, and offload vessel.

The project expects to deliver 8.4 million tonnes/year of LNG along with 1.6 million tpy of LPG and 100,000 b/d of condensate.

The project is scheduled to come on stream in 2016.

Inpex has 76% interest, although the company has said it is willing to sell down its stake.

The Inpex-Total venture has reached agreements to sell 2.52 million tpy of LNG to Chubu Electric Power, Toho Gas, and Taiwan’s CPC Corp.

It needs to tie up further customers and project financing before making the final investment decision.
