Groupement Bir Seba lets contract for Algeria's Bir Seba field

Groupement Bir Seba, operator of Algeria’s Bir Seba field development project, let a contract to JGC Corp. and its subsidiary JGC Algeria Ltd. for the engineering, procurement and construction services contract for the field.

JGC noted that the contract for Bir Seba field, which lies 130 km northeast of Hassi Messaoud, calls for the construction of a gathering system from 16 productive wells, crude oil processing facilities of 20,000 b/d, and oil and gas export pipelines.

The Japanese firm said the lump-sum turnkey contract, valued at $400 million, calls for project completion in first-half 2014.

Groupement Bir Seba is comprised of Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach 25%, Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corp. 40%, and PTT Exploration & Production Algeria 35%.
