HOUSTON, May 6
-- Total SA has inaugurated a deep conversion upgrade of its 175,000-b/d refinery at Port Arthur, Tex.

Earlier this year it brought on stream a 50,000 b/d coker along with desulfurization and vacuum distillation units and related equipment. The upgrade, according to earlier Total reports, eliminates production of heavy fuel oil.

Other major capacities at the refinery are 76,000 b/d of catalytic cracking and 38,000 b/d of catalytic reforming.
