Terrex to start chemical EOR at Strathmore

By OGJ editors
HOUSTON, Mar. 28
-- Terrex Energy Inc., Calgary, plans to commence in this year’s second-half its first chemical enhanced oil recovery project in the Strathmore oil pool, 60 km southeast of Calgary.

Terrex acquired the Strathmore oil pool in February 2010 for $650,000. On Jan. 21, the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board approved Terrex's plan for an alkaline-surfactant-polymer (ASP) flood in the Lower Mannville B pool.

The plan includes reactivation of wellbores and pipelines, injector well conversions, and repairs and modifications to existing facilities.

The company estimates the Strathmore pool contained about 20 million bbl OOIP and has produced almost 5 million bbl since 1985.

Terrex expects the EOR project and the reviving of about 30 wells to recover up to 3 million bbl.

Terrex has a 100% interest in the property.
