Process platform modules move to Mumbai High

-- ALE, a heavy-lift contractor based in Staffordshire, UK, has completed the transport and load-out of five modules of the ICP-R platform to be installed in Mumbai High oil field off India.

A joint venture of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. of India and PT Gunanusa Utama Fabricators of Jakarta built the modules at the Gunanusa fabrication yard in Indonesia.

The venture’s $366 million contract with operator Oil & Natural Gas Corp. of India covers engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and installation of the platform, flare tripod, and connecting bridge.

The platform includes the main structural frame, building module, process module, turbo generator, and compressor module weighing 1,400-2,850 tonnes each.

The platform in total weighs 7,300 tonnes, and the jacket, 630 tonnes.

Installation will be in 75 m of water.

ONGC hoped to arrest a production decline of 7-8%/year when it began second-phase redevelopment in 2007. Production then was about 160,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Oct. 10, 2007).

The state-owned operator estimated recovery attributable to the project at 21 million tonnes of oil.
