HOUSTON, Mar. 31
-- E.On Ruhrgas UK E&P Ltd. let an engineering and installation contract to Subsea 7 SA for development of Huntington oil field on UK Block 22/14b in the central part of the North Sea, 140 miles northeast of Aberdeen. The field is in 90 m of water.

Huntington is a 2007 discovery and E.On notes that the initial development will exploit the Forties Palaeocene reservoir with up to 4 production wells and 2 water injectors. E.on estimates that the £320 milllion project will recover 30 million boe, 90% oil.

Last year for the development, the company leased Sevan Marine ASA's floating, production, storage, and offloading vessel Sevan Voyageur that has a 30,000 bo/d processing capacity (OGJ, Aug. 2, 2010, p. 48). E.On expects the Sevan Voyageur will be installed in the field during this year's fourth quarter with production from the field starting in first-quarter 2012.

Gas from the field will be exported via pipeline tied into the central area transmission system, or CATS.

The Subsea 7 installation work includes a 12 km, 8-in. gas export pipeline, infield flexible flowlines, main static umbilical, and associated risers as well as subsea structures followed by tie-ins, precommissioning, and system testing.

Subsea 7 said that engineering work has commenced in the Aberdeen office with installation using several of Subsea 7’s fleet to take place through to 2012.

Operator E.On has a 25% interest in the field. Partners are Premier Oil UK Ltd. 40%, Altinex Oil (UK) Ltd. 20%, and Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. 15%.
