Newport succeeds Atencio at Mainland Resources

HOUSTON, Feb. 14
-- Mainland Resources Inc., The Woodlands, Tex., has appointed Michael J. Newport as chief executive officer and director.

Newport, who has been president of Mainland since 2007, succeeds Nick Atencio, who resigned as chief executive officer and director and will continue as a technical consultant.

Newport has been with Amoco Production Co., Harkins & Co., and Greenhill Petroleum.
