Wyoming: Wind River-Bighorn comments sought

By OGJ editors
WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 14
-- The US Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment it has prepared for the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District portion of Wyoming oil and gas lease parcels scheduled to be offered in August 2011. Comments will be accepted until Feb. 6.

BLM said that the initial list of parcels derived from public nominations contains 39 individual tracts. Thirty four of the parcels are in the area administered by BLM’s Worland, Wyo., field office, three are under Cody field office jurisdiction, and one is under the Lander field office. The tracts are being offered under four resource management plans approved in records of decision from 1986 to 1998.

BLM said that three alternatives are offered under the draft EA, ranging from offering all 39 tracts to withdrawing all of them. It is available online at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/programs/energy/Oil_and_Gas/Leasing.html.
