Karampelas, Riggi join BDO Consulting as managing directors

BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA LLP, has named two new managing directors.

Basil Karampelas joined BDO Consulting as managing director of Business Restructuring and Turnaround Services to provide financial, strategic and operational guidance to struggling companies in the energy sector. He has more than 25 years of experience in financial advisory services, including corporate restructuring, capital raising and merger and acquisitions transactions. Prior to joining BDO, Basil was President and Head of Origination at American Process Inc. He also served as operating partner to a Connecticut-based hedge fund for portfolio companies in the energy sector. Previously, Basil held leadership positions at BP, Enron and Koch Industries. He began his career as an investment banker in the energy sector, working at both Salomon Brothers and Wasserstein Perella. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and his MBA from Stanford University.

In July, BDO Consulting hired John Riggi to head its Cybersecurity and Financial Crimes Unit. He serves as a managing director in BDO Consulting’s Technology Advisory Services practice. He is a former FBI Section Chief for the Cyber Division Outreach Section. He spent nearly 30 years as a highly decorated veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). After leaving his post at the FBI, Riggi led the development of mission-critical partnerships with the private sector for the investigation and exchange of information related to national security and criminal cyber threats. Riggi earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University.

BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA, LLP, provides clients with financial advisory, business advisory and technology services in the US and around the world.
