Devon to close Houston office, cut workforce

Devon Energy Corp. plans to close an office in Spring, Texas, north of Houston, according to Fuel Fix. The move will result in the elimination of approximately 60 jobs. A small number of employees affected by the closure will move to Devon’s corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Devon partially runs its Eagle Ford shale operations from Spring, though its property there is also managed from Oklahoma City and Cuero, Texas. The company plans to continue operating its Eagle Ford property from its Cuero field office.

Fuel Fix noted that Devon announced in February it would cut 1,000 employees, about 20% of its workforce.
