Williams cuts 10% of workforce in North America

Williams Cos. is laying off 10% of its workforce across North America, as part of its 2016 business plan and cost-reduction initiatives, according to various media outlets. Williams employs approximately 6,700 workers in North America.

The current job cuts, expected to be completed this week, will affect about 670 employees. Additional layoffs are anticipated once the pending merger between Williams and Energy Transfer Equity is completed.
