Piper Jaffray completes acquisition of Simmons

Piper Jaffray Companies (NYSE: PJC), an investment bank and asset management firm, has completed its acquisition of Simmons & Co. International, an international investment bank specializing in the energy industry.

With offices in Houston, Aberdeen, and London, the group offers mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory, capital markets and equity research. The division will operate as Simmons & Co. International | Energy Specialists of Piper Jaffray.

Former chairman, president, and CEO of Simmons, Michael Frazier has joined the Piper Jaffray board of directors. He has been with Simmons for more than 20 years. In 2002 and 2005, he was appointed president and CEO, respectively, and, in 2009, was appointed chairman.
