Cobalt COO plans to resign on June 30

Van P. Whitfield, COO and executive vice president of Cobalt International Energy Inc. (NYSE: CIE), will resign from his current role, effective June 30. He will assume the role of special advisor to the company for a six-month period beginning on July 1.

Whitfield joined Cobalt in 2006.

Cobalt is an independent exploration and production company active in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico and offshore West Africa. Cobalt was formed in 2005 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
