SPIE wins contract for QCLNG project

SPIE Oil & Gas Services, through its local Australian subsidiary, SPIE Oil & Gas Services Pty Ltd. (formerly Plexal Group), will provide maintenance services to Queensland Gas Co. (QGC), a BG Group business, to ensure a lean and automated controls and communications network for their Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas (QCLNG) project in Australia.

The SPIE Oil & Gas Services maintenance team will include controls systems engineers and instrument/electrical technicians providing planned and unplanned maintenance, identifying and optimizing the controls and communications network.

QCLNG is the world's first project to turn gas from coal seams into liquefied natural gas. The project is based in Chinchilla in the region of Queensland, about 300 kilometers west from Brisbane, where SPIE Oil & Gas Services personnel will be based and work closely with the QGC team.

Set to begin in early November for an initial three-year period with an option for a further year, this contract of AUS$18 million (€ 11.66 million) presents an opportunity for SPIE Oil & Gas Services to provide the benefits of the systems and processes developed for the offshore oil and gas industry to the coal seam gas (CSG) operating environment.
