Kuwait appoints acting oil minister

Kuwait has appointed Anas al-Saleh as acting oil minister in addition to his roles as finance minister and deputy prime minister, according to Reuters, citing state news agency KUNA.

Ali al-Omair, Kuwait’s oil minister, had recently tried to introduce changes to the management of state oil companies but was blocked in these efforts. No reason, however, was provided for his departure from his post as oil minister. Reuters noted that Kuwait’s oil policy is set by the country’s Supreme Petroleum Council.
