Vertex Energy appoints Strickland as COO

Vertex Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: VTNR) has appointed John Strickland as the company’s new COO, effectively immediately, according to the Houston Business Journal.

Strickland is replacing David Peel, who became COO last summer after Vertex acquired Omega Holdings Co. LLC. Peel will now retire but will serve as a consultant to the company.

Prior to his new role, Strickland was manager of supply at Vertex. He joined the company in late 2007.

Vertex Energy is an environmental services company that recycles industrial waste streams and off-specification commercial chemical products.
