Swire Pacific Offshore makes leadership changes

Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) has made several leadership changes, including the appointment of a new managing director in Singapore. Ron Mathison has taken over the helm as the company’s new managing director, effective Sept. 21. Mathison has also been appointed as the director of John Swire & Sons (SE Asia) Pte Ltd., with effect from Aug. 1.

Mathison embarked on his career with John Swire & Sons Ltd. (Swire) when he joined Cathay Pacific Airways in 1984, and has more than 30 years of experience within various divisions of the Swire Group. Prior to his new appointment in SPO, he was the group managing director of James Finlay Ltd. in the UK for the last seven years. Before that, from 2004 to 2008, he was the director of Cargo in Cathay Pacific Airways. Mathison was previously the director and general manager of Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd. and has held a number of other senior management positions in the airline in various countries around the world.
Neil Glenn, the outgoing managing director, stepped down from his role as managing director of SPO on Sept. 18.  He has also relinquished his position as director of the SPO board.

SPO’s finance director, Nigel Gribble, has also stepped down from his role to undertake the role of CFO in Altus Oil & Gas Services, a fully owned subsidiary of SPO in August. He is succeeded by Amyon Chaffey, who was with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, and was the finance director of The China Navigation Co. Ltd. prior to that.

The safety, operations, and marine manning functions at SPO’s head office in Singapore have also been restructured, and resources will be added to strengthen the team. SPO’s operations director, Ian Offland, has been re-designated as the company’s safety and marine assurance director. There will also be new additions to his team, including Christopher Bowden as global head of marine manning, training and competence assurance; Grant Michels as competence assurance manager; and Stuart Mooney as operations manager.

SPO has been a service provider in the global offshore oil and gas industry for more than 40 years. A diversified marine services conglomerate, SPO operates a fleet of more than 90 vessels and a range of marine services and has a global presence with its 27 country offices. SPO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Ltd.
