PDVSA head tapped to also lead Venezuela’s oil ministry

Eulogio Del Pino, who currently leads Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, has also been appointed to run the country’s oil ministry, according to Reuters. Del Pino will remain the head of PDVSA and will take the reins to lead the oil ministry from Asdrubal Chavez, who is leavig to run for parliament in December elections.

Reuters notes that the country’s oil minister usually heads Venezuela's delegation to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), where Venezuela has joined other OPEC member states in lobbying for action to shore up prices. Venezuela’s struggling economy has been worsened by the recent drop in crude prices.
