Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd. (LSE: GKP) has appointed Nadhim Zahawi as the company’s chief strategy officer. Zahawi has been a Conservative member of Parliament for Stratford-on-Avon since 2010. Given his parliamentary commitments, he will work with Gulf Keystone on a part-time basis. The chief strategy officer position is not a board appointment.
Zahawi's early career included being European marketing director for Smith & Brooks Ltd., and then co-founder and former CEO of YouGov, an international market research firm that was listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market in 2005. He has also held a number of advisory roles in the oil and gas sector. Zahawi graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering.
Gulf Keystone is an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The company holds production sharing contracts for four exploration blocks in Kurdistan: the Shaikan, Sheikh Adi, Ber Bahr, and Akri-Bijeel blocks.
