Cobalt appoints new CFO

Cobalt International Energy Inc. (NYSE: CIE) has appointed Shannon E. Young III as CFO and executive vice president. He replaces John P. Wilkirson, who plans to leave the company to pursue other interests. These changes are effective Sept. 1, and Wilkirson will remain as a consultant to Cobalt through the end of October to aid the transition.

Young is currently senior vice president and CFO for Talos Energy LLC. In addition to his current role, Young has over 20 years of experience as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Salomon Brothers. Young earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Cobalt International Energy is a publicly traded independent exploration and production company active in deepwater basins in offshore North America and West Africa.
