Whiting appoints Knickel to board of directors

Whiting Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: WLL) has appointed Carin S. Knickel to the company’s board of directors. She served as vice president of human resources of ConocoPhillips Inc. from 2003 until her retirement in 2012.

Knickel has 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning her career with Conoco in 1979, serving in the US and Europe in executive, operations management, marketing, planning, and business development positions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and statistics from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Knickel also serves on the board of Hudbay Minerals Inc. and the Engineering Advisory Council for the College of Engineering, University of Colorado.
