Genel Energy makes directorate, executive changes

Genel Energy plc has appointed Tony Hayward as chairman, replacing Rodney Chase, who resigned from the company July 12. Additionally, Murat Özgül, previously president, Turkey and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, has become chief executive, and has been appointed to the board.

As chairman, Hayward will oversee the company's strategy and the effective running of the board. Özgül will focus on the day-to-day management of Genel, including operational performance and the delivery of Genel’s projects in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
