Angola offers 10 onshore oil blocks for bidding

Angola’s state oil firm Sonangol has requested prequalified bidders to submit bids for 10 onshore oil blocks, according to Reuters. Seven of the new blocks are in the Kwanza Basin and three are in the Congo Basin.

Chevron, Italy’s Eni, commodities trader Glencore, and Portugal’s Galp Energia were among the prequalified companies who could operate the blocks. Bids must be submitted by Sept. 18.

Reuters noted that operators will need to work with Angolan companies as the government increases local ownership of its resources.
