The American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) has named Melanie Bell CPL as executive vice president as part of an organizational restructuring that will further allow AAPL to meet the needs of its more than 20,000 members across the US and in Canada. A 32-year veteran in the land industry, Bell previously served as director of US Onshore Land for BP America Production Co. Her role will begin on Aug. 3.
As director of US Onshore Land, Bell oversaw all land developments, acquisitions and divestitures for the firm, including driving land strategy, maintaining and developing stakeholder relationships, and managing more than 150 land staff and contractors. Prior to her 11-year career at BP, she practiced law as an oil and gas attorney and held various land roles across the US for Vastar Resources Inc. and Atlantic Richfield Co.
Bell is a Certified Professional Landman (CPL), the highest professional designation offered by AAPL. She is a past chairman for AAPL’s Ethics Committee and served as a director of the Houston Association of Professional Landmen.
