Conoco halts shale gas operations in Poland

ConocoPhillips has halted its shale gas exploration in Poland because of unsatisfactory results, Reuters says. The company’s withdrawal from Polish shale gas exploration follows the exits of Chevron, ExxonMobil, Total, and Marathon Oil.

Reuters noted that, despite exploration efforts from these majors and state-run companies, not a single commercial shale gas well has been drilled. Only Polish companies PGNiG and PKN Orlen are still exploring for shale gas in the region.
